Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Alumni Scholarship

The primary objective of the Boot Camp Alumni Scholarship is to continue to provide educational, leadership and professional opportunities to “up and coming” Healthcare Information Technology professionals. This scholarship is meant for CHIME Boot Camp Alumni who have not yet progressed to the CIO position and whose education, aptitude, experience and values are consistent with the CHIME Seven CIO Success factors. These developable competencies are:

  1. Sets Vision and Strategy
    Collaborates well with officers and senior leaders to set organizational vision and strategy and to determine how technology can best serve the business.
  2. Integrates Information Technology for Business Success
    Applies knowledge of the organization’s systems, structures and functions to determine how to best serve the business with technology.
  3. Makes Change Happen
    Monitors and influences the dynamics of adaptive change in IT and the organization.
  4. Builds Technological Confidence
    Builds the organizations’ awareness of and confidence in its technology by conveying IT’s contributions to the business.
  5. Partners With Customers
    Interacts with internal and external customers to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.
  6. Ensures Information Technology Talent
    Creates a work environment and community that draws, develops and retains top IT talent.
  7. Builds Networks and Community
    Develops and maintains networks with internal and external sources and links networks for greater exposure. Builds community to sustain networks by sharing knowledge and power in the marketplace.

The scholarship can be used for registration fees, travel, and housing* toward any of CHIME’s educational programs, up to $2,500. Educational programs currently include the Spring CIO Forum, the Fall CIO Forum, or LEAD Forums.

The scholarship must be used within 24 months of being selected as a winner. The scholarship funds are non-transferable.

In addition to completing the scholarship application form, applicants must meet the following criteria and submit the materials described below:

Applicant criteria:

  1. Applicant must have successfully completed the CIO Boot Camp
  2. Applicant must be working at a provider or payer organization at the time of application
  3. Must be on a career path with the goal of becoming a successful CIO in the healthcare industry
  4. CHIME members are not eligible for the Boot Camp Alumni Scholarships

* Hotel rooms would be covered only for the duration of the educational event (e.g., one night for the LEAD Forums, 3 nights for the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp, etc.).
